Mistral AI launched Mistral Large 4, a 1-trillion-parameter multimodal model with 49 billion active parameters, in public preview, with open weights promised after safety testing.

Reka released a research preview of Rho-1, a 19-billion-parameter model that handles text, image, video and robot-action generation in one network, trained on 320 H100 GPUs.

Google's new 12-billion-parameter open model drops separate vision and audio encoders, projecting raw image patches and audio waveforms straight into the LLM, and ships under Apache 2.0.

Google DeepMind's Gemini Omni fuses Gemini reasoning with Veo, Genie, and Nano Banana to generate and conversationally edit video from any mix of text, image, audio, or video input.

Alibaba releases four open-source Qwen 3.5 Small models ranging from 0.8 to 9 billion parameters, delivering multimodal reasoning on consumer hardware while the 9B variant outperforms models up to 13 times its size on key benchmarks.

Alibaba releases Qwen3.5, a 397-billion-parameter open-weight model that activates only 17B parameters per pass, beats rivals on instruction-following benchmarks, and ships at 1/18th the cost of Gemini 3 Pro.

DeepSeek's first major AI release in over a year arrives amid Anthropic allegations that the Chinese lab used 24,000 fake accounts and 16 million queries to extract Claude's capabilities.
