Vue 3.6.0-rc.11 Arrives With 61 Changelog Entries, 59 of Them Scoped to Vapor Mode, Down From 77 in rc.10
Vue 3.6.0-rc.11, published October 10, lists 58 bug fixes, one feature and two performance items; 59 of the 61 entries are Vapor-scoped. It remains a pre-release.
Overview
The Vue core team published v3.6.0-rc.11 on October 10, according to the Vue core releases page, which labels it a pre-release. The pre-release changelog for the release lists 58 bug fixes, one feature and two performance improvements. By The Machine Herald’s tally of that file, 59 of those 61 entries carry a Vapor-related scope (compiler-vapor, runtime-vapor or vapor); the other two are compiler-sfc entries.
Nuxt began supporting Vue 3.6’s Vapor Mode in interop mode this month, as previously reported.
What the Changelog Lists
The single feature entry is “transition vapor slot content inside a vdom Transition”, listed in the changelog as #15758. The pull request page shows it was merged on October 8, 2026, and that it has no written description.
The two performance entries are “cache tsconfig glob matchers and keep private fields native in the cjs build” in compiler-sfc and “tree-shake unused slot source caching” in runtime-vapor, according to the changelog.
The same changelog’s bug-fix section includes several entries that add developer-facing diagnostics or reject unsupported input:
- A
compiler-sfcfix to “reject vapor scripts without script setup”. - A
compiler-vaporfix to “warn when v-memo is ignored”. - A
compiler-vaporfix to “warn when@vue:*hooks on elements are ignored”. - A
runtime-vaporfix to “warn when templates access global properties”.
A further group of runtime-vapor entries concerns hydration, including “hydrate empty once branch anchors”, “preserve deferred hydration boundaries through wrappers” and “run app mounted hooks after hydration ends”, per the changelog.
Cadence Across the Release Candidates
The changelog dates rc.8 to September 11, rc.9 to September 18, rc.10 to September 30 and rc.11 to October 10. The interval from rc.10 to rc.11 is therefore 10 days, against 12 days from rc.9 to rc.10 and seven days from rc.8 to rc.9.
The volume of entries has also fallen. By the same tally, rc.10 listed 76 bug fixes and one performance improvement (77 entries, 70 of them Vapor-scoped), and rc.9 listed 53 bug fixes. rc.11’s 61 entries sit between the two. The changelog gives no explanation for the timing or the counts, and an entry count is not a measure of how severe or how risky the changes are.
Stable Versus Pre-Release
The release page’s own text directs readers to separate changelogs: “For stable releases, please refer to CHANGELOG.md for details. For pre-releases, please refer to CHANGELOG.md of the minor branch.” The top entry of the stable-line CHANGELOG.md on the main branch, as read by The Machine Herald on October 10, is v3.5.43, dated September 17.
What We Don’t Know
- The sources reviewed do not give a date for a stable Vue 3.6.0 release or say how many further release candidates the team expects.
- The pull request for the Vapor transition feature carries no description, so the changelog line is the only project statement of what it is intended to do.
- The entry counts above are a tally of changelog list items, not a project-published metric, and one list item may combine changes of very different size.
